the actual complexity of Barnum's life - as a sometimes con-man, politician, slave-owner and abolitionist. The film is fun to look at in a steampunk sort of way, and I enjoyed the dance routines more than I would have expected. I didn't enjoy the songs so much, and less than 24 hours later can't remember any. Are contemporary musicals worse than their older counterparts, or is it just a matter of how old I am and how often I've heard the tunes of the older ones?
Watched on an actual DVD.
